Speakers
Dr Jessica Taylor (FRSA, PhD). Dr Taylor is the founder of VictimFocus, an international research, teaching and consultancy organisation that has the aim of challenging the victim blaming and pathologisation of women and girls subjected to violence and abuse.
An author of five books, her latest book, ‘Why Women are Blamed for Everything’, sold 10,000 copies in the first six weeks and was then bought by Hachette UK in a multi-book deal. The book is available in all good book shops, on Kindle, Hardback, Paperback and Audiobook.
Lily. Lily is a survivor of trafficking – perpetrated both by family members and as a part of domestic violence – and the violence intrinsic to these experiences. Lily works with a number of organisations speaking about the lived experience and impact of abuse, trafficking, prostitution and domestic violence. Lily is also a person-centred therapist working with victims and survivors of sexual violence. Lily’s professional interests are in the role of power and oppression within sexual violence, working with the mental distress following sexual violence, and how we as a society influence these processes.
Ali Morris. Ali is a feminist campaigner and activist and has been involved in the women’s sector for the last 25 years. She has been a trustee for a number of women’s organisations as well as volunteering on the ground and setting up her own local feminist network community group. She is a qualified and registered social worker and now runs her own specialist violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence consultancy and training business. Ali chaired the webinar.
